Hiking from Arima Onsen to Mt. Rokko
The other day, we enjoyed a wonderful hike from Arima Onsen to Mt. Rokko.
We took the Uoyamichi Trail, a historic trail connecting Arima and the Kobe area. The name “Uoyamichi,” which literally means “Fishmonger’s Road,” is said to come from the fact that fish were once transported along this route from the seaside area of Kobe to Arima.
Under the bright sun shining over the Arima area, we first walked uphill from Merveille Arima toward the trailhead. We were already feeling quite tired at this point… but this was only the beginning!
From the trailhead, we entered the mountain and continued our hike. Along the way, we found ourselves saying things like, “I’m tired,” “My legs hurt,” “I can’t catch my breath,” and “It’s so hot!” But somehow, we managed to make it all the way to the summit!
From the top of Mt. Rokko, you can enjoy spectacular views stretching from Kobe on the seaside all the way to Osaka, as well as the mountainside of Kobe.
It was a challenging hike, but the beautiful scenery and sense of accomplishment at the summit made it all worthwhile. If you are looking for an active way to enjoy the natural beauty around Arima Onsen, why not give the Uoyamichi Trail a try?
